Construction Access
Systems: PROJECT

Centre Point Tower, London

Common Tower System Installation

THE CHALLENGE
The provide an access solution on a constricted site in a heavily congested part of London on a site without Tower Crane access.

SOLUTION
Multiplex used the Construction Access Systems Common Tower System on the 35 storey Centre Point Tower in London. Opened in 1966, Centre Point is one of London’s original skyscrapers. Developer Almacantar planned to create 82 residential apartments, almost 4,000m of retail space and a public square on the Oxford Street site. Alimak Group supplied a twin combination 1.5m and 2.0m wide x 3.9m long passenger goods hoists, positioned on one elevation of the CAS Common Tower.

RESULTS
As a modular system, the individual Common Tower lightweight components can be installed manually. Access into the building was challenging and the CAS Common Tower system worked extremely well for Multiplex on this project.
