THE CHALLENGE

A Common Tower and integrated staircase system was used for Multiplex on a very constricted site. 

SOLUTION

Multiplex used Construction Access Systems Common Tower and Integrated Staircase System on the 50 storey, 170m, One Blackfriars Road Project, for Berkeley St George. An Alimak Mammoth hoist and a twin FCS high-speed 100m min hoist ensured that both men and materials could get to the workface in a quick and efficient manner. Our Common Tower system ensured the minimum opening for access into the building. 

RESULTS

Regular pre-construction meetings were held with the client to determine our full scope of works. This resulted in an innovative layout design, whereby the Common Tower was installed on a steel grillage, which allowed some of the hoists to access the basement levels. The main staircase was installed above the loading dock, due to the lack of available space on site.
